...WAS LANGE WÄHRT!

Raiffeisen Vikings Head Coach Chris Calaycy, OC Vince Lelard und der sportliche Leiter der Vikings, Felix Hoppel, dürfen aufatmen! Buchstäblich in letzter Sekunde ist das Engagement von REC Ryan Maher erfolgreich über die Bühne gegangen. Somit ist Maher für die restlichen AFL Grunddurchgangsspiele samt Play Off und Finale spielberechtigt.

Kurz nachdem RB Marcus Nolan verletzungsbedingt die Heimreise antreten musste, begannen im Vikings-Office die Computer und Telefone heiß zu laufen. Denn Mike Salerno, der nach wie vor am Roster 2009 der Raiffeisen Vikings steht, musste kurzfristig seine ursprüngliche Zusage aus beruflichen Gründen wieder zurück ziehen. Nach vielen Telefonaten stellte sich heraus, dass man unter vielen Angeboten in Ryan Maher den absolut besten, verfügbaren Spieler gefunden hatte. Nun begannen die – nicht minder mühsamen - organisatorischen Mühlen zu mahlen. Merke: Nicht jeder Amerikanische Staatsbürger besitzt auch einen Reisepass..!

Maher wurde im Laufe seiner Karriere mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Als SR fing er in seiner Universität Holy Cross 75 Passes für 907 Yards bei 10 TD; als JR 69 Passes für 797 Yards bei 6 TD. Natürlich muss sich Ryan Maher erst in Ruhe akklimatisieren und den Jetlag überwinden; ob er am kommenden Samstag bereits in Innsbruck spielt, wird von den Coaches noch entschieden - mitfahren wird er in jedem Fall.

12/17/07 - 2007 All-Patriot League First Team: WR Ryan Maher, Holy Cross Sr., has been selected All-Patriot League First Team for the 2007 college football season. Maher led the team with 75 receptions for 907 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. He also ranked second on the team in both all-purpose yards (998 yards) and scoring (66 points). Maher easily led the Patriot League in both receptions (6.82 catches per game) and receiving yards (82.5 yards per game), while ranking 11th in the nation in catches and 21st in receiving yards. A first team All-Patriot League selection in 2006, Maher also placed third on the school single season lists for receptions and touchdown catches, while placing sixth for receiving yards. He finishes his collegiate career with 148 catches for 1,842 yards and 16 touchdowns, to rank fifth all-time at Holy Cross in receptions, and sixth in both touchdown catches and receiving yards. - Holy Cross Football

12/11/07 - 2007 AFCA FCS Coaches' All-America Team: Holy Cross senior wide receiver Ryan Maher (Boca Raton, Fla.) has been named to the 2007 American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-America team. Maher becomes the second Crusader to earn All-America honors from the AFCA in the last three years, joining 2005 selection Steve Silva. A first team All-Patriot League and All-New England selection, Maher led the team with 75 receptions for 907 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He also ranked second on the team in both all-purpose yards (998 yards) and scoring (66 points).
